Case description

A woodcutter near Stavanger reportedly saw an object land on a snow-covered hill on 4 January 1958. A very tall man emerged. The brief account describes a tanned face and a helmet, rather than a small, grey, large-headed occupant. After a few minutes the man returned inside, and the object departed with a sound compared to a flock of birds. Vallée’s Magonia catalogue preserves this as case 455. It says Air Force officers and police later searched the hill for traces, but the short entry does not describe a specific trace, identify the woodcutter or supply the investigators’ report. A search is part of the reported aftermath; it is not itself evidence that officials confirmed a nonhuman visitor or an extraordinary vehicle. No detailed craft geometry, dimensions, clothing or spoken exchange appears in the accessible summary. It therefore cannot support an elaborate saucer interior, uniform insignia or a particular alien anatomy. The plate keeps the tall helmeted, human-looking figure, woodcutter and a partially obscured object in the snowy setting. The witness’s clothing, vehicle outline and exact appearance remain contextual choices. An original Norwegian newspaper account or official search record would be needed to establish the report’s date, sequence and findings beyond the catalogue.
