Case description
The Adro account belongs to June 1958, around 2:30 p.m., in Brescia province, Italy. Maurizio Verga’s article in UFO 3/1985 identifies Simeone Lancini and other farmers working in a field, and attributes the underlying report to E. Magni, ITACAT case 5801. It provides a substantially different shape from the saucer suggested by the short imported summary.
The farmers reportedly noticed a slowly moving, box-shaped object rotating about its axis. Its surface reminded them of dark wood. It stopped above a nearby field and descended behind trees. Lancini and another farmer approached, thinking it might be a Russian vehicle, and watched from about one hundred metres away. The object was estimated at 1.2 metres high and 2.3 metres long. Through an opening they thought they could see two faces, one directed toward them, before it took off.
The retrieved article does not establish distinctive facial anatomy, clothing, conversation or physical traces. The observers’ Russian-vehicle interpretation also differs from a claim that they identified extraterrestrials. The plate includes two representative approaching farmers, the small dark boxlike craft and two indistinct faces at its opening. The number of other field workers remains unspecified, and the illustration does not convert the sparse description into a familiar metallic saucer.
