Case description
The imported catalogue places this Bells Corners, Ontario, episode on 18 August 1958 at about 8:50 p.m. A later review by Michael Swords describes a woman noticing a bluish patch in the grass behind her home. She and her son went outside. He urged caution, but she approached within a few feet of the illuminated area.
The woman reportedly distinguished a small, childlike form lying on its stomach with its head slightly raised. Swords’s rendering gives it tightly curled brownish-gold hair, very pale skin and unusually large, jewel-like eyes that appeared faceted. The blue illumination seemed associated with its eyes, although its source was uncertain. The figure did not move. After about a minute, the increasingly worried son persuaded her to return indoors; from the house they found the light had gone. The imported abstract explicitly says only one observer saw the being.
The story reached Wilbert B. Smith after a radio broadcast in February 1960. Swords says Smith and another investigator interviewed the family and visited the site. An irregular patch of dead grass was reportedly noticed then, roughly eighteen months later; it is not an immediate physical trace with demonstrated causation. No vehicle or flight was reported.
