Case description
The Hatch ledger assigns 5 November 1958 to a short report from Pioneer, Ohio. Its surviving description says that a strange craft landed and that very short figures were seen nearby. No developed sequence accompanies those few details. The record does not identify the witness or witnesses, their observation point, an hour, or how the object arrived and departed.
The cited popular source is Gerry Hunt’s Bizarre America, page 63. Francis Ridge’s separate regional history also lists a 1958 Pioneer close encounter involving entities, but explicitly says he had no details because the underlying item was a newspaper account indexed in Eberhart’s Geobibliography of Anomalies. That acknowledgment supports retaining a source limitation rather than borrowing features from better-described encounters.
Nothing accessible establishes the craft’s outline, dimensions, lights or landing gear, or the figures’ faces, clothing, exact height and actions. Nor is there a documented conversation, physical trace or abduction in this entry. Other Pioneer reports from later years should not be merged into it. The accompanying plate is therefore a contextual reconstruction: anonymous observer, indistinct low object and unresolved short silhouettes, with its missing witness and design information stated directly.
