Case description

The King's Lynn airship report has conflicting dates. A signed statement attributed to farm labourer Fred Harrison, reproduced from the Daily Express of May 14, 1909, describes an observation on April 21 at about 9:45 p.m. The Atlas and some later lists instead use May 13; other summaries refer to a possibly separate early-May report by two labourers. The events should not be collapsed into one precisely dated observation without qualification. Harrison said he was outside New Common Marsh Farm near Terrington Marsh when a whirring noise drew his attention overhead. A long dark airship, estimated at 80–100 feet, passed low above the trees. A strong searchlight illuminated farm buildings, roads and surrounding land. He reported seeing two men on a hanging platform beneath it. The object reportedly traveled toward Hunstanton and disappeared after a few minutes. No alien anatomy or direct conversation appears in that signed account. Later authors have discussed conventional British airships, misidentification and hoax possibilities, without securely identifying a machine or demonstrating a fabrication in this particular case. The plate consequently uses spring 1909 rather than a disputed exact day and treats the vessel as an airship report. Structural details, clothes, faces and farm appearance are approximations.
