Case description
The better documented version of this report concerns Kenneth Lindsley, also spelled Lindsey, walking near Claribel Road and McHenry Avenue in the Oakdale–Modesto area late on December 22, 1959. A bright orange object, described as bowl-shaped, reportedly descended from cloud level to roughly twenty feet above the road. Its width appeared comparable to the roadway, and its light illuminated the surrounding trees and road margins.
Lindsley watched the low object for about two minutes before it rose again. He described moving shadows associated with it, while explicitly saying he could not distinguish what they were. That qualification matters: the report does not establish humanoid anatomy, a face at a window, or an encounter with beings on the ground. Later summaries say other people in the neighbourhood saw the object, but do not provide equivalent detailed statements from them.
The imported entry gives December 23 at 00:10; APRO-derived accounts and HUMCAT instead give December 22 at 23:50. The primary source is cited as the January 1960 APRO Bulletin, with a later Flying Saucer Review reference. The plate consequently uses December 1959 and portrays an orange luminous bowl with unresolved shadows, rather than a detailed spacecraft crew.
