Case description
This Irkutsk entry rests on a brief, poorly documented story circulated outside the Soviet Union. One version says that in 1961 a rocket-shaped object supported on four legs landed near the Siberian city. A doctor from a nearby laboratory allegedly photographed the object and two occupants. The published descriptions do not name the doctor, identify a laboratory, locate the site, or provide a precise date.
Loren Gross traced an early version through Gordon Creighton’s discussion of material in the Italian journal Oltre il Cielo in 1962. That version refers to a woman doctor. Later books vary: Henry Durrant gives the four-legged rocket form, while Antonio Ribera describes a disc and adds an alleged secret-police intervention. The photographs themselves are not available in the located accounts, so neither their existence nor their contents can be checked.
The story therefore cannot support a detailed alien portrait, a specific uniform, or a claimed photographed craft design. Nor does the later suppression allegation establish a verified cover-up. The plate is explicitly a reconstruction of an unverified report, using a female observer with a camera, a distant indistinct rocketlike form, and two unresolved figures. Every face, precise location, and mechanical detail remains unknown.
