Case description
A retrospective North Dakota story describes four men returning from a hunting trip during rain or sleet in November 1961. Seeing a luminous object descend into an open field, they initially thought an aircraft had landed in distress and approached to help. The object was then described as a silvery, silo-like structure rather than an ordinary airplane.
The inherited Atlas entry places the event west-northwest of Martin on November 26 and mentions two approximately five-foot figures. Other retellings use Harvey or Minot, an unspecified November night, and sometimes four figures in white overalls. One hunter reportedly fired at a figure. The men withdrew, and later versions add a blackout or several hours of missing time. These inconsistent counts and locations should not be combined into a single precise eyewitness reconstruction.
The account entered the literature through occupant catalogues and later books, including discussion associated with Hynek, Vallée and Jerome Clark. Some retellings identify a participant as Paul Miller and attach a subsequent visit by mysterious officials. That later episode is a further claim, not confirmation of the field encounter. The accessible material does not establish a recovered body, verified shooting injury, contemporary military finding or independently measured time gap.
