Case description
Mario Zuccalà, an Italian tailor, was returning home near San Casciano, south of Florence, during an April 1962 evening when he felt a sudden movement of air and saw a disc-shaped object nearby. Most later accounts use April 10; an APRO clipping preserved in a Project Blue Book packet gives April 11 in its body. Approximately 9:30 p.m. is reported in the compared accounts.
Zuccalà described a cylinder descending beneath the disc. A doorway appeared, brightly illuminated from within, and two short humanoid figures approached him. Their clothing was described as metallic-looking. He said they took hold of him and brought him inside, where the light seemed diffuse rather than coming from ordinary visible lamps.
He remembered a voice speaking Italian and announcing that the visitors would return at a future lunar interval with a message for humanity. The account then jumps to Zuccalà finding himself outside his house, without remembering the intervening journey. Later communications attributed to the same visitors belong to subsequent claims rather than to the initial encounter.
