Case description
The Winifreda entry belongs to a La Pampa newspaper story circulating in May 1962. Its familiar May 22 date is the publication date of La Reforma's article, rather than a securely established encounter date. A later examination of that article also questions the precise locality: the newspaper described a farm near General Pico, while subsequent catalogues attached the story to Winifreda.
An unnamed rural woman supposedly saw a landed disc and two enormous beings making unusual, almost mechanical movements. Informants said the figures gestured as if calling to her, then withdrew into the object when she became distressed. The story added that she was treated at a clinic and that neighbours or police found a large area of flattened, burned grass. Exact measurements, including the inherited six-metre reference, are not securely documented by an original site report.
The newspaper did not interview the alleged witness directly. Its chain ran through a neighbouring farmer, his sister and another local family before reaching the reporter. Names and a definite location were withheld. La Nueva Provincia subsequently reported being unable to confirm the account through police and correspondents. The claims of hospitalization, physical traces and official involvement therefore remain unverified elements of a multiply relayed story, not established findings. The plate uses explicit newspaper-account context rather than asserting a confirmed encounter.
