Lake Movil, MN being encounter — August 1962

Mildred Anderson and her daughter Marilyn Chenarides recalled an unusual visitor outside their vacation cabin on Lake Movil during an August night in 1962. The precise day was no longer remembered when APRO followed up years later. Anderson was doing Marilyn’s hair, while Marilyn’s younger brother Roger was in bed, when a red-glowing object became visible above the boat dock about fifty feet away. The women described a craft approximately thirty-five feet wide and eight feet high, substantially larger than the Atlas’s five-meter shorthand. Three yellow-lit windows faced the cabin. Silhouettes of three human-shaped figures appeared in two of them. The red light made the green dock look brownish and the water greenish-black. After watching for several minutes, Anderson switched off the cabin lights, and the object’s lights reportedly went out immediately. Anderson then felt a strong impulse to approach and ran outside, while her daughter called for her to return. When she was roughly halfway to the dock, the dark object rose, moved away at an angle and disappeared. APRO’s September–October 1972 account followed a National Enquirer story and included an artist’s reconstruction prepared with the witnesses. It also described a separate family sighting three weeks earlier; that episode is not additional observation of the dock encounter. The occupants’ anatomy and facial features were never established.
