Case description
Two unnamed people on the Estonian coast near Juminda reportedly encountered a small upright creature in autumn 1938, or possibly 1939. Jacques Vallée’s later catalogue described a roughly one-metre figure with a rounded head set directly on its body, a swelling at the front of its chest, slitlike eyes and a long straight mouth. Its brown-green surface was compared with synthetic leather, while the hands appeared ordinary.
The creature was said to walk with unusually deliberate leg movements and a bobbing head. When one observer pursued it, it reportedly accelerated rapidly, its feet becoming difficult to follow. Versions differ about the distance and ending: Vallée’s account says about 100 metres and disappearance, whereas another catalogue gives a shorter distance and loss of sight behind latticework. That difference does not establish literal dematerialization.
The account reached print decades after the alleged event, through the Vallée and Sven Schalin catalogue tradition. Witness identities, contemporary statements and a detailed investigation are unavailable in the cited summaries. Crucially, no UFO, landing, arrival or departure was reported. Calling the figure an occupant or drawing an accompanying spacecraft would add a connection that this unusual but poorly documented creature report does not contain.
