Case description
An anonymous garage proprietor in his fifties, identified only as Mr S., told researcher Lyonel Trigano about an incident on a rural road in Var, France, during a rainy November evening in 1962. Trigano’s account appeared in the November–December 1968 Flying Saucer Review, translated by John C. Hugill. The publication delay and withheld identity limit independent checking.
The driver said his headlights revealed a group about eighty metres ahead. As he slowed, the figures divided jerkily and approached from both sides. He described birdlike heads and a covering resembling plumage. Frightened, he closed his window, accelerated past them and stopped approximately 150 metres farther along. Looking back, he saw winglike movement toward a luminous dark-blue object over a field, shaped like two opposed plates. The forms appeared to be drawn into its underside before it departed with a dull clacking sound.
The account does not securely establish their number, biological nature or role aboard the object. Comparisons with Mothman and suggestions about alien animals are later speculation. The plate combines the road encounter and subsequent craft phase, showing a representative driver, several unresolved birdlike forms and the reported blue double-plate object. It labels this sequence composite and avoids imposing human faces, standard greys or a precise undocumented creature count.
