Case description
The Bologna account is attributed to Antonio Candau on the night of December 9, 1962. HUMCAT initially lists the locality as Cadivilla, then corrects it to San Michele in Bosco, Bologna, using Francesco Izzo’s Italian catalogue and a Settimana Incom Illustrata article of December 30. Later retellings describe Candau as a driver and waiter walking home.
He reportedly saw a circular object, approximately five to five-and-a-half meters across, land about nine meters away. Two men emerged and approached to within roughly two meters. Their clothing was yellow, with conspicuously broad belts. They spoke words Candau could not understand, and one made what he interpreted as a reassuring gesture.
The pair returned to the object, which departed with an unusual sound. The surviving condensed entry supplies no detailed description of their faces, unusual anatomy, equipment or conversation. Accounts place the event around 9:30–10 p.m., rather than establishing a precisely measured time. Its source trail preserves a brief encounter claim and a corrected locality, not an instrument record or identified visitors. No taking, remembered onboard episode or physical examination is described.
