Case description
Francesco Rizzi, a thirty-six-year-old night watchman, reportedly encountered an unusual object in an industrial courtyard in Milan around 2:20 a.m. on December 18, 1962. During his rounds he heard an increasingly intense whistle behind his head. Turning, he saw a bright metallic disc hovering about a meter above the ground, only a short distance away. Contemporary newspaper coverage was followed by later Italian catalogue accounts.
The object had a turretlike upper part and several openings or portholes. The whistle stopped as a door opened below. A being no more than about a meter tall appeared, wearing a fluorescent suit and a completely dark head covering or head. It pointed with one hand and beckoned with the other. Rizzi said he could not move. A second figure appeared in the bluish doorway and gestured toward the first as though ordering it back.
The opening closed, the whistle resumed, and the object departed in a cloud of white vapor or smoke. Rizzi then found he could move again. Maurizio Verga’s source review cites Corriere della Sera of December 19, 1962, and later reports that publicity affected Rizzi’s employment. That interpretation of the gestures remains the witness’s, and no verified mechanism explains his immobility. The plate preserves the dark faces and luminous clothing without inventing visible alien features, a medical procedure or contact inside the craft. The matching video index uses December 17 rather than December 18.
