Us40 East / Roosevelt, UT being encounter — 1963

This entry preserves a brief report from east of Roosevelt, Utah, along US Highway 40, in 1963. Hatch gives approximately 7:50 a.m. and states that an observer used a rifle scope to examine a hovering saucer. Its source reference points to Frank Salisbury’s The Utah UFO Display, page 240. The distinctive claim is a face visible in a window on the object’s dome. The surviving abstract supplies no description of the face, clothing, skin or eyes, and does not identify the observer or establish the number of people present. It also gives no dependable distance, object dimensions, length of observation or subsequent flight path. The mention of an optical sight records the reported means of viewing; it does not imply that a weapon was fired. Without a located expanded case interview, the account cannot responsibly be turned into a detailed encounter with a particular alien type. The year-only dating is retained rather than assigning an unsupported month or day. No landing, exterior occupant, conversation, vehicle failure or physical trace is established by the available wording. The illustrative plate therefore limits the supposed occupant to an indistinct face-like shape behind a dome window.
