Belo Horizonte, Brz being encounter — August 28, 1963

On the evening of August 28, 1963, three boys in Belo Horizonte’s Sagrada Família district reportedly went into a backyard to collect water near a cistern. They noticed a glowing, transparent sphere above an avocado tree. The object was estimated at three to three-and-a-half metres across, with four occupants seated inside and a three-pronged antenna on top. One tall occupant allegedly descended between two shafts of yellow light and approached the boys. Their distinctive description was cyclopean: a bald, ruddy face with one large dark eye in the forehead, a transparent round helmet, a wrinkled brown upper suit, white material from waist to knees, black lower legs and boots, and a copper-colored box behind. The longer account includes gestures, unfamiliar speech, a boy picking up a brick, and a light associated with his hand becoming ineffective. The figure reportedly collected a plant, returned between the beams, and the sphere departed eastward. The story became public in 1965 and was investigated by CICOANI and SBEDV researchers. Later interviews preserve the witnesses’ continued account, while ages and details vary between retellings. The Hatch source carries a hoax code without an accompanying explanation; the consulted histories do not document a confession or decisive hoax finding. The plate labels the report disputed and omits the confrontation, showing the clothed children at a safe distance.
