Case description
Richard D. Seifried’s investigation, published in the July 1982 MUFON UFO Journal, concerns five members of the Parkinson family near Millersport on an evening in October 1963. Glenna Parkinson said her husband called from outside, thinking a plane was on fire. She and their children joined him. The family reportedly watched an object hovering about twenty feet above a field, no more than a hundred yards away, for five to ten minutes.
Glenna described two saucerlike sections beneath a broad dome, an antenna, and a slowly rotating middle band with short yellow-red flames. She also recalled rounded projections underneath. Three witnesses described humanlike shadows moving behind translucent windows, including apparent arm movements; no face was discerned. A faint humming sound accompanied the observation. The object rose, curved left, and accelerated northeast until only a red point remained.
Seifried interviewed the surviving witnesses roughly nineteen years later; the father had died after the sighting. The article explicitly says there was no missing time, illness, or entry into the field. Witness drawings differed, and the cover illustration was a composite. Separate later experiences mentioned by family members should not be inserted into this relatively straightforward observation.
