Case description
Doris Player reported waking at her Gum Creek home around 2–2:30 a.m. on 3 February 1964 to bright light entering her bedroom. Looking outside, she saw a man approximately five feet four inches tall about thirty feet away, apparently directing a black, eighteen-inch-square box toward parts of the garden. When he noticed her, he pointed the box toward her; she recalled buzzing and clicking sounds.
The HUMCAT account describes blue-green coveralls, a brown jacket with three large buttons, a brown balaclava-like head covering and a cord running to his left shoulder. He wore elbow-length black gloves and had a red face with a prominent nose. Player also reported footsteps and a pale silvery ring-like appearance on the bed before the light and man disappeared. Later retellings sometimes add sleep effects or a definite overhead craft.
John Burford’s 1968 follow-up, discussed by Thomas Brisson, is more cautious: Player only speculated that the light came from a craft, and she interpreted the box as camera-like. Her separate 19 February scout-craft account must not be merged with this event, nor should the figure acquire the seven-foot stature of the different Plympton case. The illustration follows the garden observation and labels the uncertain light source.
