Case description
Maria do Socorro Inocêncio described an encounter while washing clothes at a farm pond near Pocinhos, Paraíba, on April 7, 1964. In Bob Pratt’s account, a noise drew her attention to an object descending rapidly. She hid among trees and watched it land. Pratt places the event in the morning; the imported catalogue instead gives about 1 p.m.
Two beings reportedly emerged. Inocêncio described small bodies, large heads, wraparound eyes and a greenish appearance. Their loose-fitting outfits carried backpack-like equipment. She said they spoke in sounds she could not understand and spent about half an hour collecting stones, pebbles, soil and plants near the object. Remaining concealed at close range, she did not report being approached or taken aboard. The figures returned to the object, which allegedly rose spinning and left a vapour-like trail.
Pratt and Cynthia Newby Luce investigated Brazilian accounts decades afterward; a summary supplied by Pratt also appears in Donna Higbee’s collection. Inocêncio associated the date with the birth of her youngest child three days later. The original description has two beings, rather than the ledger’s three, and does not establish a formal “Grey” species. Detailed craft geometry is insufficiently described, so its illustrated form remains deliberately indistinct.
