Case description
The Leam Lane story developed amid several reports around Gateshead in late May and early June 1964. On June 2, fourteen-year-old David Wilson reportedly went toward a farm to collect material for his rabbits and saw a group of small figures around a haystack. The inherited time is approximately 5:30 p.m.; later retellings differ about the children's activities and exact timing.
The figures were described as wearing bright green clothing, with hands glowing like electric bulbs, and appearing to search through the hay. Other local children supplied additional claims, including a dark-clothed leader with a marked stick, a figure on a barn roof and one riding a cow. Counts and sizes vary between published versions. A girl also reported a silver circular object departing with an orange glow. These were separate descriptions, not one consistently witnessed sequence of occupants leaving a craft.
Earlier aerial reports included a disc attributed to Keith Bell and egg-shaped lights seen by the Bell family; neighbours also described an unusual humming sound. The close dates encouraged later authors to connect the episodes, but their relationship was not established. The source comparison traces the material through British ufologist Robert Chapman and later catalogues. The plate is therefore an explicitly labeled composite, retaining the small green figures without asserting that the independently reported saucer transported them.
