Lake Forest, IL being encounter — July 1965

A woman, identified in some compilations as Mrs Harvey, reportedly noticed unusual sounds and a flash while talking on the telephone in her second-floor bedroom at Lake Forest, Illinois, in July 1965. The approximate time was 11:30 p.m. After finishing the conversation, she went to the window to investigate. Above a neighbour’s lawn about one hundred feet away she saw a globe of light with diffuse edges, apparently transparent and hovering five to ten feet above the grass. Several figures, possibly as many as six, were visible inside. They looked like ordinary men, approximately five feet tall, in white clothing with bare heads and arms that appeared deeply suntanned. They lay on their backs and made movements compared with rowing. The object remained still and silent, then ceased to be visible after roughly five minutes when its light apparently went out. Jerome Clark’s historical account is the reference behind later summaries. The source trail does not supply a publicly reproduced original interview, photograph or independent witness. The rowing comparison does not establish actual oars or propulsion equipment, and loss of illumination is not the same as a witnessed flight away.
