Salto, Urg being encounter — August 15, 1965

Around eleven on the night of August 15, 1965, five people traveling by car near Salto reportedly encountered a brilliant light and a powerful humming noise. Gordon Creighton’s account, citing El Heraldo of Concordia dated August 16, says an object came down directly in front of them and the car’s engine stalled. The light cycled through white, red, green and yellow, then dimmed sufficiently to reveal a lead-grey body occupying the road’s width. It was approximately three meters high and only three or four meters from the vehicle. Three passengers reportedly fainted. The remaining two described three humanlike figures inside, illuminated by a green light and moving their arms. No clear communication or unusual anatomy was recorded. Bursts of reddish-yellow flame allegedly appeared at the sides, followed by a renewed hum as the object rose slightly and shot vertically out of sight. Later books and catalogues repeat this sequence with differing size estimates. The available source comparison does not establish the travelers’ identities or a contemporaneous mechanical examination of their car. Its newspaper reference is valuable provenance, but repeated summaries do not constitute independent confirmation of each detail.
