Case description
On the evening of 17 August 1965, Hilda Santa Cruz reportedly answered a knock at her Lima home and encountered an unusual visitor. The early retelling identifies her as an employee of the police authorities, rather than documenting an official police operation. She raised the alarm. By the time neighbours appeared, the visitor had vanished; immediately afterward a luminous sphere was seen moving rapidly west overhead.
Gordon Creighton attributed the account to the 18 August issue of Última Hora, identified in his source list as Buenos Aires. Later humanoid catalogues reproduce the same brief sequence. Despite describing the visitor as extraterrestrial or Martian, the accessible text supplies no face, clothing, colour, voice, measured height or action beyond knocking. Hatch’s small-humanoid classification therefore goes beyond what can be visually reconstructed from the fuller quotation.
The nearby sphere was observed afterward, not seen carrying the visitor away. The connection between the doorstep event and aerial light remains an interpretation, and no boarding or human removal is described. The neighbours’ arrival does not make them independent witnesses to the figure itself. The plate labels its joined doorway-and-sphere scene as a composite, preserves Hilda as the principal witness and keeps the visitor indistinct. A detailed grey face, uniform or spacecraft interior would introduce unsupported information.
