March Del Plata, Arg being encounter — August 20, 1965

Eduardo Yacobi and Teresa Ernestina Acuña reportedly encountered an intensely luminous object while walking to a bus stop in Mar del Plata after visiting relatives. Contemporary newspaper coverage dated the event to 20 August 1965, around eleven at night, and placed it near the intersection of 9 deJulio and 216 streets. The couple described a strong hum, an oval object near treetop height and a subsequent low position in an open field. Early accounts portrayed figures outside the object, apparently attending to a fault. A much later interview by Miguel Ángel Gómez Pombo produced a materially narrower description: Yacobi said he had seen indistinct shadows against the light, at openings or inside, without anatomical detail. He wanted to approach but his frightened wife persuaded him to remain back. He also recalled a lighting interruption and a delayed bus, details whose cause was not established. The surviving versions disagree about the child accompanying the couple, distances, landing versus hovering and even the year: later recollection placed the episode in 1966 despite the 1965 press record. Roberto Banchs initially failed to locate the witnesses; a subsequent researcher reached Yacobi through his daughter. The reconstruction follows the later shadow-only description, labels the date dispute and avoids the unsupported image of identifiable small aliens making repairs.
