Case description
A seven-year-old boy in Puno, near Lake Titicaca, reportedly encountered very small, one-eyed beings in a house patio on Acora Street during the night of 8 September 1965. The account transmitted to Flying Saucer Review says he ran to seek help. When family members came out, they saw only an intensely brilliant light rising rapidly into the sky, rather than the beings themselves.
The published versions differ in detail. Gordon Creighton’s summary gives the creatures’ height as about eighty centimetres but does not describe a structured craft in the patio. Vallée’s later catalogue specifies seven creatures emerging from a luminous object at about ten o’clock. Neither supplies a trustworthy detailed costume or vehicle design. Consequently the plate labels its light-and-figures arrangement as a catalogue-version composite, rather than a precise simultaneous view shared by the family.
Creighton received the report through Donald Hanlon’s November 1965 correspondence. The same discussion mentions sports writer Jorge Chaves and his family observing a roadside object near Juli and Pomata, but that is a separate report, not additional eyewitness testimony to the boy’s patio encounter. The original local investigation is not reproduced in the available source comparison. The record preserves the distinctive single-eye claim while avoiding details borrowed from other Peruvian sightings.
