Case description
A contemporary British newspaper account published on 4 October 1965 described several unusual reports circulating in Mexico. One item concerned a black-clad figure with conspicuously gleaming, catlike eyes and a shining metal rod. A local reporter, two taxi drivers and a bullfighter were named by occupation as observers; the stranger was said to have vanished suddenly in a street. Later catalogues place this incident at Jalapa or nearby Coatepec and commonly assign 10 September.
The details changed in later retellings. One version follows taxi driver Antonio Nieto, who initially took the figure for a prospective passenger, then encountered other witnesses before returning. It adds luminous hands and an object described as a crystal wand, but dates the event to September 1968. That year cannot be the date of the episode already reported in the 1965 newspaper. Small stature and a specifically Grey-like anatomy are not established by the contemporary text.
The original article also mentions an illuminated hovering object in its survey of separate regional reports. It does not securely connect that object with the street figure. This record consequently preserves the locality and date disagreements and does not treat the figure as a demonstrated spacecraft occupant. The reconstruction uses the early black-clothing, gleaming-eyes and metal-rod description, without adding an associated craft.
