Case description
A shepherdess near Pichaca in the Puno region of southeastern Peru reportedly saw six small figures emerge from an object on September 20, 1965, around 4:30 p.m. The account circulated in Flying Saucer Review-related literature and in books by the Lorenzens and Jacques Vallée. Her name and age are not established in the accessible versions.
The beings were described as approximately eighty to ninety centimeters tall, wearing white clothing that gave intermittent flashes. Their unintelligible speech was compared with geese cackling. The frightened observer reportedly fled and hid. Some versions emphasize a ducklike gait; others preserve only the comparison to the sounds. Those descriptions do not justify adding beaks, bird feet or a familiar grey-alien face to the reconstruction.
A liquid or mark was subsequently reported on the ground, but accounts compare it with oil or with vinegar, without a verified chemical analysis. Vallée cites personal information, while Gordon Creighton’s summary does not identify an original press source. It therefore remains unclear how the initial statement was obtained and how much later wording derives from the same report. The craft is called oval in one related discussion, but detailed construction, dimensions and an observed departure are not securely recorded. The plate follows the small figures and flashing white clothing while leaving their anatomy and the pastoral setting approximate.
