Case description
José Camilo Filho, a mechanic in his late fifties, reported meeting two very small figures beside a path near the Alto dos Cruzeiros cemetery at Canhotinho, Pernambuco, in October 1965. The ledger gives October 26 at noon; accounts based on the newspaper and later SBEDV investigation also use October 22 and describe a hot evening. The month is more secure than the exact date or time.
The figures, approximately eighty to ninety centimetres tall, allegedly had large heads, wrinkled dark complexions, white hair and unusually large narrow eyes. One wore a visored cap and had a sparse beard. Their clothing was described as shiny blue and olive, with pale hands or gloves; one had a dazzling multicoloured band across the chest. A narrow cylinder about 1.2 metres tall stood between them. Startled, they rose awkwardly, collided, and one grabbed the cylinder while the other produced a shorter rod.
Camilo fled, then returned to find them gone. He was deaf and did not report hearing their speech. SBEDV investigators interviewed him in 1966. Two other residents reported an airborne light or object around the same time, but did not corroborate the close encounter or observe a boarding. The plate therefore uses an unresolved distant light for that separate report, preserving the lack of a craft seen beside the figures.
