Case description
A motorcyclist from Frome reportedly encountered three unusual figures near Shearwater Lake, Crockerton, close to Horningsham, around midnight on January 21, 1966. The HUMCAT entry, drawing on Arthur Shuttlewood’s The Warminster Mystery, provides a more specific location than the imported Atlas title. The reported time is approximate across the catalogue versions.
The rider described three grey-clad, white-faced persons resembling frogmen. Their eyes were widely spaced and no mouths were apparent. They moved into a hedgerow. After turning back, he reportedly saw a large, luminous saucer rise from the lakeside. These are successive observations: the account does not describe watching the three figures board the object.
Brief catalogue versions also mention traces, but the available entry supplies no laboratory analysis identifying their origin. It belongs to the wider Warminster reporting period and should not inherit evidence from other local sightings. The illustration combines the roadside figures and later lakeside object in one contextual scene, with the rider and motorcycle present. Clothing details, witness likeness and exact positions remain artistic reconstruction.
