Case description
Darlene Underwood and her mother reported watching two luminous objects near Liberty, Missouri, around midnight on 1 April 1966. The lights appeared to settle on a nearby hill. In an expanded version published later, the women used binoculars and described the objects as egg-shaped, each approximately the size of a large car.
Vallée's catalogue includes a sequence involving a passing train: one object rose behind the hill, while the other hovered near trees with its lights extinguished. After the train had passed, both reportedly settled again. One or two humanlike shadows were then observed, and the women heard loud voices they could not understand. A sound compared with a pig squealing followed. That comparison describes a sound, not a witnessed animal being harmed. Another version mentions a point of green light from one object before the pair accelerated away.
The reference trail includes the May 1966 issue of IIR and Ray Palmer's Flying Saucers for April 1968. The accounts supply no detailed anatomy, names or direct communication for the supposed occupants. Their differences should remain visible rather than being combined into a more elaborate encounter. The reconstruction shows the binocular observation and grounded-object phase, with humanlike forms whose finer appearance remains unrecorded.
