Case description

At approximately 4:50–4:52 p.m. on May 10, 1966, an unnamed witness near Marisela in the Caracas area reported an oval object descending and two unusual humanlike occupants appearing beside it. The account entered Jacques Vallée’s landing catalogue and later humanoid compilations. The figures were described as approximately six feet tall, with oversized heads, broad shoulders and slanted eyes. Their appearance seemed bright or partly transparent to the witness. They examined plants and other nearby material using unfamiliar instruments. Wide belts reportedly emitted light, and the figures illuminated objects before touching or inspecting them. They then returned to the craft in a manner the witness compared with being carried by light. The terse imported phrase about being beamed aboard refers to that movement of the occupants; the surviving account does not describe the human observer being taken into the object. Likewise, examining vegetation is a reported activity rather than evidence that a sample was recovered by investigators. The Atlas preserves the distinctive appearance and sequence while leaving the witness unnamed and the exact site approximate, as the available source does.
