Case description
Fourteen-year-old Kathy Palmer reported seeing an unusual object on a Springfield, Missouri lawn around 12:30 a.m. on August 1, 1966. HUMCAT preserves a summary of Patricia Rudig’s special report for NICAP. The imported Atlas version mentions three girls and a brief landing, while this fuller source centres on Kathy’s window observation and gives approximately thirty minutes overall.
She described a luminous object roughly six feet long and four feet wide and high, with red and blue lights and a rattling sound. Two slender occupants, about five feet tall, reportedly emerged through a square hatch. Their large heads might have been helmets. They appeared to communicate with one another and inspect bicycles before re-entering and departing.
Matted grass and a white substance, reportedly identified as calcium phosphate, were later associated with the site. The summary does not demonstrate that either originated from a spacecraft. It also supplies no detailed facial description. The plate follows the named observer’s account, showing Kathy at the window, two indistinct-faced large-headed figures, bicycles and the small craft; it does not invent identities or actions for the additional girls in the compressed catalogue.
