Near Kelly Air Force Base, TX being encounter — August 6, 1966

Jacques Vallée describes an Air Force teletype sent from Kelly Air Force Base on September 9, 1966, concerning two incidents at an isolated Texas home. The first occurred on August 6, during the afternoon. The three youngest children in the household, aged six to nine, reportedly saw a dark object shaped like an inverted cup. Kelly was the reporting base; the narrative does not establish that the encounter happened on its grounds. The children said a square yellow opening appeared and a small figure stood inside it. The figure was estimated at three to four feet tall and wore black clothing reflecting yellow or gold light. After several minutes the opening closed. A low hum followed as the object rose toward the northeast. It reportedly hovered near a tree about 35 feet from the house, roughly 15 feet above ground, without touching down or damaging the tree. Vallée notes that these details were reconstructed during questioning rather than volunteered as one complete initial account. A second family sighting on September 3 is separately described and is not folded into the August plate.
