Case description
Charles Horn and his wife, together with Mr and Mrs W. Taylor, reportedly watched unusual lights across the river near Cheshire and Kyger Creek, Ohio, on December 8, 1966. HUMCAT, citing the November–December APRO Bulletin, gives 6:30 a.m. Later retellings spell the first witness's surname Hern and sometimes assign December 7 or a different early-morning time. A dog-walking episode appears in those expanded accounts.
The witnesses described an object displaying red and orange lights on the opposite bank. Small people-like forms seemed to move to and from it, becoming visible only when close to the lights. Expanded versions add a beam directed at the water. Eventually the original lights went out, a light of another colour appeared—greenish in later versions—and the object rose vertically and disappeared.
The distant figures were not described with identifiable faces, clothing or anatomy. Their precise number, the object's construction and the relationship between the lights and the moving forms remain uncertain. The plate therefore keeps the figures small and indistinct across the water rather than converting them into detailed extraterrestrials. This riverbank account is separate from the winged-creature reports circulating around Point Pleasant during the same period.
