An anonymous professional visiting relatives near Riachuelo, close to the Tres Esteros farm in Osorno Province, described an encounter late in January 1967. In the account published by UFO Chile, he was resting on a log during an afternoon woodland walk when a powerful flash left an afterimage. Looking another way, he noticed an unusual object near a clearing.
He estimated the dull-coloured disc at about thirty-five metres across. It hovered without visible windows or doors, accompanied by silence and slight heat shimmer. A humanlike figure about one and a half metres tall then appeared. It had very pale face and hands, long hair, a projecting jaw and a flat nose. A smooth, apparently transparent covering reached its feet; no helmet or shoes were seen. The figure moved beneath the object and disappeared into it without a visible stairway. A purple flash and reddish illumination preceded a rapid vertical departure.
The witness returned home frightened and later found no ground disturbance. His story reached La Tercera by letter about a month afterward. UFO Chile explicitly treated it cautiously because it relied on one observer. No conversation occurred, and the apparent transparent clothing should not be expanded into invented bodily anatomy.
