Case description
The Atlas assigns this entry to Glastonbury, Connecticut, on February 18, 1967, but its short description concerns noises at a barn, small figures hiding from a passing car and a departing object. Research found a substantial identity problem: that sequence closely resembles the separately documented Winsted, Connecticut, report of September 15, 1967, rather than the accessible account associated with February 18 at Glastonbury.
A published summary of Blue Book correspondence says two Glastonbury children wrote the Air Force on March 20 about seeing a large, round white object while skating on February 18. It remained stationary and disappeared at approximately 8:22 p.m.; the letter reportedly requested UFO information and pictures. That summary contains no barn or humanoids. In the September Winsted account, two teenage girls watched a changing luminous object and small figures near a barn and roadway; the Condon investigation considered ordinary explanations for the lights, sound and figures.
The two stories should remain separate unless original documentation establishes a link. Similarity does not prove exactly how the Atlas’s compressed description acquired the mismatch. Its record identity is preserved here with the conflict made explicit, rather than silently moving Winsted details to a February Glastonbury encounter. The contextual plate follows the skating-and-white-object account and does not add occupants that were not reported in that version.
