FALCON LK, MB, Manitoba, Canada
Open this case in the interactive AtlasCase description
On May 20, 1967, industrial mechanic and amateur prospector Stefan Michalak was searching for minerals near Falcon Lake, Manitoba, when he saw two reddish objects in the sky. One departed; the other descended onto a rocky outcrop nearby.
Michalak approached the landed oval craft and heard voices or mechanical sounds. An opening revealed a brightly lit interior, but he did not report seeing an occupant. When he touched or came close to the exterior, the opening closed. The craft rotated, presenting a grid-like vent.
A blast of hot gas or air struck Michalak's chest and ignited his clothing. The object lifted away. He returned in distress and later received medical treatment for burns and illness. Photographs documented a patterned set of marks on his torso, while authorities and investigators searched the site.
Canadian records show that officials examined the report and recovered some materials from the area, including metal later found to be radioactive at low levels. Those facts document investigation, not an extraterrestrial cause. Questions remain about exposure, the site material and whether the event occurred as described.
The inherited CE3 class should be reviewed because Michalak did not report a visible being; the encounter is strongest as a close physical-effects case. The portrait shows the departure and grid-like vent without exposed injury. It is an illustrative reconstruction.
