Juan and Maria, published under the pseudonym de Soto, reportedly saw an unusual object outside their Caracas home at about 11:30 p.m. on August 3,1967. They were sleeping in their car because of earthquake alerts. Their account described a glowing white disc hovering roughly one hundred feet overhead, followed by a smaller luminous object descending almost to ground level nearby.
The smaller object resembled a light bulb. A sliding door reportedly opened and a figure no more than three feet tall emerged, wearing a helmet and coverall-like clothing. It picked up stones from the gravel path, examined them briefly, then dropped them and returned inside. The capsule rose back to the larger disc. This sequence is more specific than the inherited shorthand suggesting that a being was simply lowered inside a globe.
HUMCAT identifies Joe Rolas and the Lorenzens as investigators and cites the September–October 1967 APRO Bulletin. At least three neighbours were said to have observed the larger object, with other residents also sleeping outdoors after the quakes. Those aerial observations should not automatically be counted as independent views of the small occupant or stone handling. The record documents a reported exterior sampling scene; it does not establish a geological mission, earthquake prediction or an independently recovered specimen.
The film dates the earthquake July 31. Current UFO-13356 correctly distinguishes the historical July 29 earthquake and its illustrated August 7 Pedro Riera episode. This segment is not Pedro Riera’s bedroom encounter.
