Case description
On August 13, 1967, farm worker Inácio de Souza and his wife reportedly encountered a large object at the Estância de Santa Maria between Crixás and Pilar de Goiás. Most compilations place the episode in the afternoon, although some later versions give an evening time. The object was compared with an inverted basin resting near the ranch’s landing strip.
The couple described three short, hairless figures in pale yellow, close-fitting clothing. De Souza, who was carrying a firearm, reportedly fired toward one of them. A green light then came from the object and struck him, according to the account. He collapsed; the figures returned to the craft, which departed vertically with a humming sound.
The subsequent story includes a circular skin injury, illness, a diagnosis of leukemia and de Souza’s death roughly two months later. Brazilian investigators collected the account, which appeared in APRO and Flying Saucer Review reporting. The temporal sequence does not establish that the alleged light caused leukemia, and published versions differ over injury location and other details. The plate depicts the initial observation of the couple, craft and figures, before the reported gunfire and physical effects.
