Case description
Two teenagers reported a sequence of unusual lights near Kolmården, close to Åby and Norrköping, on August 23, 1967. Around 8 p.m., a red glow descended toward woodland. Returning toward home, they saw yellow lights at an unoccupied cottage and heard tapping. The red light appeared again near a brook; later a round white light seemed to hover near the boy’s home. These were luminous phenomena, not a clearly observed structured spacecraft.
Whistling and light footsteps preceded a figure appearing from bushes about ten meters away. Approximately 1.3 meters tall, it had a disproportionately large head partly covered by a hood or hair, dark eyes, thin limbs and bowed legs. Its nose and mouth appeared to form an X. Thin bands around its ankles reportedly shone white. It moved jerkily and held a boxlike object with a short projection, supporting it with both hands. The frightened pair fled; no effect from the device was described.
Sven Schalin interviewed the teenagers and family members within days. Published versions use different anonymity names: Erik and Inga, or Peter and Fia. Footprints, damaged apples and subsequent noises were reported, but do not establish their cause. Archivist Håkan Blomqvist later noted that the witnesses could not be retraced. His source-based account and the HUMCAT summary preserve the fuller sequence; their time estimates differ from the Atlas’s single 8 p.m. label.
