Case description
The Maturín entry is a short Venezuelan roadside report from the morning of 26 August 1967. The fuller HUMCAT card names the motorist as Saki Macharechi. While driving toward Maturín, he reportedly noticed what looked like a large bird overhead. It came down near a bridge, and he initially identified it as a heron. That identification was an early impression of the moving shape, not a separate bird independently documented beside a humanoid.
As his car approached to within approximately nine feet, he changed his interpretation: the object appeared to be a small humanlike figure. Frightened, he accelerated and drove away. The imported Hatch digest adds an estimated one-metre stature and unusually large eyes. The retrieved HUMCAT synopsis does not elaborate those facial features, clothing or the manner in which a human-shaped figure had appeared airborne. It supplies no conversation, physical contact, pursuit or subsequent observation.
HUMCAT traces the account to the September–October 1967 APRO Bulletin and the Lorenzens' books. A longer first-person statement or contemporary investigation file was not recovered here. No craft is described in this reporting chain, so the figure should not be placed beside an invented saucer, and its initial resemblance to a heron does not justify adding wings. The plate retains an indistinct, small humanlike roadside form, the bridge and approaching motorist. Clothing, likeness, exact road layout and facial details beyond the ledger's broad description remain illustrative.
