Case description
Valeriano Ruiz Fontes, a twenty-eight-year-old radio technician, reportedly watched an illuminated object near Tibidabo at about 10:30 p.m. on October 1, 1967. He initially mistook it for a large Jeep. The fuller account places it just above the ground at an estimated seven to eight hundred yards from him, about four metres long.
It had several oval illuminated windows and a square structure on top. Four ordinary-height figures in dark uniforms and bright helmets were reportedly nearby. In the HUMCAT summary of Antonio Ribera’s report, two climbed onto the turret and manipulated fittings while the other pair examined the underside. After approximately half an hour, the outside lights went out. The object rose silently, displayed coloured lights and accelerated away at great speed.
Hatch compresses this into a cigar-shaped vehicle with two men beneath and two inside, while the fuller source puts the latter pair on top. Apparent repair work is the witness’s interpretation of their activity, rather than an established fault. The account was published in Flying Saucer Review and subsequently DATA-NET and HUMCAT. Distance limits any claimed facial identification. A present-day image of the large Collserola telecommunications tower would also be anachronistic for this 1967 event.
