Four teenage boys were driving east from Duncan, Oklahoma, on State Route 7 at about 10 p.m. in late October 1967 when their headlights picked out three small figures on the roadway. HUMCAT identifies two witnesses as Ivan Ritter and Jerry Bennett. When the driver switched to high beams, the figures moved rapidly off the road and disappeared, in language suggesting an unusually fast leap or flight.
The figures were estimated at about four feet tall. Their faces looked human, but their ears were exceptionally large. A shiny blue-green surface was variously interpreted as their skin or close-fitting clothing. HUMCAT notes steep, approximately 20-foot drop-offs alongside the road, making an ordinary retreat difficult in the witnesses’ view. Ritter and Bennett returned the next day and reportedly found an unusual footprint in creek-bed mud about 100 yards from the road; Vallée’s summary describes four toes.
Dates differ: HUMCAT and Vallée give 21 October; HUMCAT notes 22 October in the newspaper. Duncan police officers Elmer McGill and Pleasant Foster are listed as investigators. Neither checked summary describes a craft during the encounter. The imported ovoid association remains unsupported, so the plate shows the boys and large-eared figures without adding a spaceship.
Atlas retains October21/22 source-date variation and no craft in this encounter. At27:49 auto-transcript renders1p.m., while description says10p.m.; narrative explicitly involves headlights and next-morning return. Do not silently change Atlas time from this caption.
