Case description
Oscar Heriberto Iriart, a teenage boy riding on family land near Sierra Chica, reportedly encountered two visitors on July 2, 1968. The time is generally given as late morning. The men beckoned toward a small silver, elliptical craft standing beside a drainage ditch on three short supports.
The boy described short white hair, red clothing, strange eyes and lower legs through which he thought grass remained visible. He said they spoke Spanish, discussed future travel and handed him an envelope containing a message to be placed in water. He later returned home on horseback. Three holes were interpreted as landing impressions. A separate nighttime light report by other witnesses did not independently corroborate his conversation.
The case is disputed. Historical reviews describe ordinary paper, a failed water test, handwriting resembling the boy’s and a possible mundane origin for the holes. Iriart nevertheless maintained his account; these sources do not supply a confession. The illustration explicitly labels the claim disputed and shows the boy, horse, red-clothed men and small craft together.
