Case description
The contemporary La Presse account places this encounter around 9 p.m. on July 28, 1968, rather than the imported 1 p.m. Five witnesses at the Sauvé home saw two circular lights with red halos; one reportedly descended into an oat field approximately a thousand feet away. The group included Denis and Régent Léger, Nicole and Joanne Sauvé, and twenty-year-old Paul Sauvé.
When they went onto the porch, Denis directed a flashlight toward a fence about fifty feet away. They described a short, broad-shouldered figure with a bald, dark, wrinkled head set closely between its shoulders. Its eyes were ordinary-sized and round, its nose flattened, and curly black hair surrounded its ears. A broad five-fingered hand rose toward its face as it withdrew toward a barn.
Régent later reported the same face and hand at a window, with a low animal-like sound. The others’ observations differed by position and phase. The distant red object subsequently rose away; no one described the figure entering it.
Jacques Hébert reported flattened oats and a narrow track at the alleged landing site. Parents confirmed the group’s frightened condition but were more cautious about the creature. Those reactions and vegetation marks do not independently establish the proposed connection between being and lights.
