Case description
Beginning in late August 1968, children in Coleraine, Quebec, reported a small bearded figure at a boulder overlooking a cemetery. The Atlas places an observation on August 29 at 3:30 p.m.; the HUMCAT file groups several encounters over four consecutive days and gives differing afternoon or evening times. It names Denis, Michel and André Bogus, with uncertainty in the surname transcription.
The figure was described as approximately four feet tall, bald, heavily bearded and red-skinned, with a rough, lizard-like surface. It reportedly disappeared abruptly. A roaring noise was heard near an excavation below the boulder. During the broader sequence, witnesses also described a roughly 30-foot object coloured blue, white and red, leaving smoke and appearing to descend behind the rock.
The file also names adult observers, including an uncle, George, who reportedly returned with a much larger group on September 2 without seeing the figure or object. Its cited chain runs through Saucers, Space and Science and Sherbrooke’s La Tribune. These related observations should not be treated as one simultaneous scene. The plate explicitly combines phases and leaves the figure’s torso concealed by the boulder, preserving the reported face and skin without adding clothing details.
