Guy Lemarque, sixteen, and a companion reportedly encountered a low luminous object near Roncenay, Aube, around 3 a.m. in September 1968. They were walking home after abandoning a moped that had run out of fuel. Lemarque first noticed a fast-moving red light; farther along, a bend and bushes revealed an object already standing in a field.
They sheltered in a ditch and described a broad orange-red body with a darker dome, a ring of lights, and metal supports. Three short beings reportedly moved nearby with bright lamps in their left hands. Their movements appeared to glide above the grass. One approached, and Lemarque described hands with two pincer-like digits. The witnesses fled before any departure, so they did not see the object take off.
Luc Billon and Raoul Foin's investigation was published in Lumières dans la Nuit several years later. The sources vary between September 23 and 30 and are not clear that both witnesses were interviewed independently. The claimed hundred-meter gliding jumps and the connection with the earlier red light remain interpretations needing the original testimony. The plate uses September 1968 and a stationary field scene, showing the reported pincer-like hands and lamps without inventing a detailed face or a completed boarding sequence.
