Case description

Between about 06:20 and 06:30 on October 2, 1968, a driver identified as Toribio was on his way to work in the Vila São João area of Lins, São Paulo. He climbed onto an agricultural tractor to check the oil in its differential. From that elevated position, Toribio reported seeing an unfamiliar vehicle between the tractor and a nearby embankment. The source says it was approximately twenty-five metres above the ground or at a similarly estimated separation, close enough for him to describe both its structure and the activities of its crew. The craft's side profile reminded him of a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. It carried an external platform, and beneath the body was a concave circular basin about one metre in diameter that rotated. The object produced some sound but no obvious exhaust. Toribio counted four occupants. One remained inside, operating a small white keyboard or console approximately the size of a portable radio. Three others crouched on the outer platform. Each of the three appeared occupied with a different task. One watched or inspected the tractor. A second collected earth using a white vessel shaped like a shell. The third observed the others until the crew noticed Toribio. The three figures on the platform stood. The third drew a light golden instrument from a sleeve, compared in shape with a lightweight electric drill, and pointed it toward the witness. Toribio said flashes from the device left him unable to move. The accessible form does not preserve a clinical duration or physical injury associated with the paralysis. The object then departed toward the northwest at substantial speed. Toribio emphasized that it did not stir wind or dust as it left, although it made some noise. The rotating concave structure remained visible beneath it during the departure. The account was recorded on a typed Brazilian investigation form identified as VIII CI-469 and preserved under National Archives reference ARX.0.0.14. The first page contains three hand-drawn views of the object—profile, top and underside—which provide unusually direct support for the craft design. The archival record establishes that a named witness gave a specific report and that the description and sketches were retained. Government custody does not establish the object's origin or verify the occupants and paralysis. The present English narrative uses the preserved Portuguese synopsis; a new independent translation of every original notation was not completed during this pass. CE3 reflects the reported observation of four occupants. The soil-collection behavior, tractor inspection, white console, golden device and rotating underside are retained as witness claims, not converted into proof of a scientific sampling mission or nonhuman technology. The portrait reconstructs the reported tableau: Toribio on the tractor, one occupant at a small white keyboard inside, exactly three crouched on the external platform, one using a white shell-shaped soil bowl and another raising the golden instrument. The Karmann-Ghia-like craft hovers without dust or exhaust above its rotating concave underside. It is an illustrative reconstruction based on the archived form and sketches, not documentary evidence.
