Case description

An unnamed motorist returning from Extremadura reportedly stopped near Las Pajanosas, Seville, after noticing a light on January 16, 1969. Ballester Olmos’s earlier catalogue gives 8:30 p.m.; some later summaries shift the day or time. The account was attributed to an investigation by Felipe Laffitte and subsequently published in Phénomènes Spatiaux. It should not be merged with other Andalusian reports merely because figures appeared against a light. The man said that from roughly 200 metres away he could distinguish an illuminated rectangle with figures moving across it. A nearby dog watched the light with raised hair and a low growl. Frightened, he withdrew. Several days later he returned with an engineer neighbour and reportedly found three marks. The Spanish catalogue gives their spacing as 1.08 metres, which differs from the six-foot spacing repeated in some English summaries. Later reassessment by Ballester Olmos and Fernández Peris identified a house window as the explanation; José Ruesga’s historical compilation records that assessment and correspondence about it. No distinct craft, extraordinary facial details or verified landing are established by the rectangle alone. The plate shows a representative motorist, dog and distant rectangular light with unresolved passing silhouettes, labelled with the house-window explanation. The marks are reported observations, not proof of a vehicle.
